Now, to the good stuff!

1. Use “Good” Measuring Spoons

Let’s be honest, there aren’t any perfect measuring spoons for dry spices that completely avoid mess, washing, or cross-contamination. But until our invention is ready, we might as well use ones that avoid these issues as much as possible. There are definitely bad ones out there, but luckily, there are also a few good options.

If what you hate the most about measuring spoons is how they don’t fit in the jar so they force you to pour them out and make a mess, the The Hudson Essentials Stainless Steel Measuring Spoons Set measuring spoons for you.

If what bugs you the most is how they seem to disappear in the drawer and the size you need is somehow never there… Magnetic measuring spoons are a great option, look into the Anolon SureGrip Tools and Gadgets Magnetic Measuring Spoon Set as a great option.

Lastly, for those of us who hate washing multiple measuring spoons, the Joseph Joseph Measure-Up Adjustable Measuring Spoon reduces the need to make a few spoons dirty. That said, if you get them wet mid usage, good luck getting dry spices from sticking which is more likely to happen with a single device.

2. Make Spices Easier to Access and Find

First , let's improve how accessible and organized our spices are. There are a few options you can go with. If you have counter space, a rotating spice rack that keeps your spices organized and easily accessible is a great option. I recommend the Kamenstein 16 Jar Warner Revolving Countertop Spice Rack. It's sleek, space-saving, and comes with pre-filled spices!

If you lack counter space, magnetic spice jars that stick to the side of your fridge or a magnetic board to save space and keep spices within easy reach. Check out the Gneiss Spice Hexagon Magnetic Jars. They look great and are incredibly functional.

Lastly, depending on what spice brand you buy, labeling everything will help you quickly identify and pick the spice you need. The Spice Labels from Savvy & Sorted offers a stylish and practical solution.

3. General Tips & Tricks

Plan your cooking so you first do all dry measurements and then liquids to avoid the annoyance of having spices stick to the spoons. But if you, like me, end up in that situation, use a small brush or cloth to clean off any excess spices from your measuring spoons or the counter immediately to avoid cross-contamination and mess. The Microfiber Towel Roll by LifeisLuck Store  is reusable and more sustainable than regular paper towels.

Hopefully, these tips will make it a little less annoying to be precise in the kitchen until we are ready to unveil the real long term solution.

Happy cooking!
